DCN Dx is a diagnostics company that helps bring at-home and point-of-care tests to the market. As the business scaled, its legacy site became a blocker—held back by a dated design system, bloated architecture, and an e-commerce flow that slowed sales instead of supporting them.

Partnering with the creative agency Matchbox, Dreamers of Day led a full re-platforming effort, translating a visually rich design system into a scalable, high-performance WordPress site.

The result is more than just polish—DCN Dx can now sell more efficiently, publish with agility, and showcase their expertise with clarity.

Custom e-Commerce Requirements

DCN Dx’s ecommerce needs went far beyond off-the-shelf WooCommerce. Products required a “Request a Quote” flow instead of standard cart checkout, along with support for complex tax rules and bulk ordering logic. Their existing setup involved 40(!)+ plugins and extensive customization that had to be rebuilt, restructured, and optimized for improved performance and scalability.

High-Impact Design, High-Risk Performance

Matchbox delivered an immersive design language—including 3D product models, layered animations, and smooth scroll interactions. To meet enterprise performance standards, every interaction had to be carefully optimized to avoid bogging down load times or disrupting accessibility.

Content Structure That Could Scale

The legacy site featured a mix of blog posts, case studies, and news, but lacked a clear structure. DCN Dx required content types that could support future marketing efforts, including gated white papers, landing pages, press releases, and event coverage. Without defined content governance, their marketing team couldn’t move quickly or independently.

Complex Integration Stack

Forms powered by HubSpot needed to work natively within the new WordPress build, support modal popups, and sync properly with their CRM workflows. Product pages also needed to be connected to associated training content, forming a cross-linked ecosystem for buyers and partners.

Custom systems built around real-world needs

Advanced WooCommerce Architecture

We rebuilt DCN Dx’s ecommerce infrastructure from the ground up, using WooCommerce as a foundation but extending it to support the complexities of their B2B model. Standard cart flows were replaced with custom “Request a Quote” functionality for high-volume purchases, giving users a direct path to initiate bulk orders.

We implemented advanced tax and shipping rules to reflect state-by-state variations, ensuring accuracy at checkout. Product pages were also linked with relevant training content to streamline buyer education, and the system was built to handle product variations and large-order workflows without added complexity.

Performance-Driven Interactivity

Despite the visual complexity of the design, we ensured that performance remained fast across all devices. 3D models were deferred until scrolling, animations were conditionally loaded, and a low-power mobile mode was disabled when heavy motion was detected in battery-saving settings. These features reduced load strain and enhanced accessibility without sacrificing experience.

Scalable, Modular Content System

We implemented over 30 custom repeatable sections to support marketing flexibility—each one tied to a clean content architecture. New content types for white papers, events, and gated resources enable the DCN Dx team to execute campaigns quickly without engineering support.

Integrated Lead Capture Workflows

HubSpot forms were rebuilt as pop-ups and integrated directly into the new frontend experience. Forms map to the correct workflows and preserve tracking for lead attribution, without introducing bloat or breaking design flow.
